Capture Training

Duck Team 6 originally started off as a capture team. As time passed and our organization grew, we came to understand that reducing the street dog population was going to require a multi-faceted approach: Capture, Placement, and Outreach. However, Capture remains a strong focus of our mission, and Dallas needs more people who are willing to help hard-to-catch street dogs find their way into forever homes.

Our Capture Team receives dozens of requests for assistance each week, and because our team is small, we can only concentrate on a few requests at any given time. However, we want to empower as many people as possible to have the tools you need – knowledge, techniques, support – so that you can work together with other independent rescuers when we are unable to get to your request right away. Or, if you are out of our service area and want to know how to capture dogs on your own, this is a great first step.

We do want to clarify that none of us are certified animal control officers or have any special training or certifications. We simply want to share what we have learned from our years in animal rescue, specifically street dog capture, so that more people are able to get dogs off the streets.

Our next class will be on Saturday, February 23 from 9:30 am – 1:30pm. Join us for a fun and informative day of knowledge sharing!
